Pirates star McCutchen marries in private ceremony

Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen was married Saturday, exchanging vows with Maria Hanslovan during a private ceremony at St. Paul's Cathedral in Oakland, a source confirmed to Trib Total Media.

McCutchen kept the wedding date secret.

McCutchen, 28, proposed to Hanslovan, 26, last December on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

The couple met at PNC Park. Hanslovan, who was a cheerleader growing up, was a member of the Pirates' Cannonball Crew, which interacts with fans and leads cheers during games.

McCutchen was the Pirates' first-round draft pick in 2005 out of Fort Meade (Fla.) High School. Hanslovan grew up in DuBois and is a 2011 Slippery Rock graduate.
