Quarterback gets rocked in first highlight of new AAF league

Alliance of American Football league kicked off Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 and they produced their first highlight of the season. San Diego Fleet quarterback Mike Bercovici was blown up by San Antonio Commanders linebacker Shaan Washington.

Alliance of American Football league kicked off Saturday night — yes, there’s another football league — and they produced their first highlight of the season.

The play came early in the first quarter when San Diego Fleet quarterback Mike Bercovici was blown up by San Antonio Commanders linebacker Shaan Washington.

Bercovici was blindsided by Washington and lost the ball. He nearly lost his head, as well, as the hit violently dislodged his helmet. Bercovici was up and played in on the next series of downs. There was no penalty called.

Most of the responses to the video on Twitter slammed the NFL, saying a hit like that would lead to a penalty, an ejection from the game, or fine, or all three in the game in the other league.
