Pittsburgh Riverhounds' play against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Highmark Stadium on Thursday, June 22, 2017.

With 12 days off between games, the Riverhounds' front office has remained active and added a player for the second day in a row.

The Riverhounds on Friday acquired goalkeeper Macklin Robinson on loan from North Carolina FC of the North American Soccer League, a move that fills a pressing short-term need for the club.

Starter Trey Mitchell suffered a shoulder injury during warm-ups for the Riverhounds' 2-0 win June 22 over Tampa Bay, which pressed Keasel Broome into action for his third start of the season. Broome, however, is unavailable for the team's next game Tuesday against Charlotte after being called up by the Barbados National Team earlier this week.

With the recovering Mitchell as the only goalkeeper with the team, the Riverhounds were pressed into making a roster move. Robinson, 23, played in college at DePaul and has been with North Carolina FC since turning pro last year.

“We played against Macklin in preseason and are looking forward to having him on our side this time around,” Riverhounds coach Dave Brandt said in a team release. “He's an excellent young keeper, and we're grateful to North Carolina FC for making him available to us.”
