GET TO KNOW ...

Dustin Vaughan

Position: Quarterback

Height/weight: 6-foot-2, 225 pounds

Experience: 2 years

College: West Texas A&M

Vaughan wasn't necessarily signed to a reserve/future contract in January to be the heir apparent to Ben Roethlisberger, but he could end up finding his way onto the roster with a solid training camp. Vaughan was originally an undrafted free agent in the 2014 after setting a Division II record by throwing for 5,401 yards as a senior. He signed with the Cowboys and spent his entire rookie season on their 53-man roster. Vaughan was on the Bills' practice squad a year ago.

What is it like playing with three veteran quarterbacks like Ben Roethlisberger, Landry Jones and Bruce Gradkowski? “The best thing about that is that you are always learning. You are taking what they do and you are trying to incorporate it into your game. It's great to have veterans that you can constantly learn from.”

What are you trying to get done in camp knowing it is an uphill battle to make the team? “My goal is to make this team and that will never change. That's something that I set out to do and want to do from the very beginning. You never know what goes into making decisions.”

You are known for your big arm.

How far can you throw a football? “Honestly, I don't know for sure. I haven't done it. I would say probably around, I don't know, 65 yards. Maybe 70. It is a strength of mine, but you have to have touch on the ball as well. That's something I have been working on.”
