Fans react to game action as the Steelers take on the Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at Heinz Field.

4:13 p.m.:

It’s a final. Steelers improve to 2-0, albeit have only beaten DeShonne Kizer- and Case Kennum-quarterbacked teams. Next week? It’s MIke Glennon and the 0-2 Bears.

50 seconds left in the game:

The Steelers take over. This one is three kneel-downs from being in the books.

1:53 left in the game:

Boswell does it again. His fourth field goal of the second half pretty much wraps this one up. His hit today from 49, 29, 37 and, now, 43 yards. Steelers lead, 26-9.

2:13 left in the game:

“Renegade” worked. The Vikings’ drive stalled inside their own 40. Case Keenum’s fourth-down pass for Stefon Diggs was just out of bounds. Steelers have the ball, up two touchdowns, at the Minnesota 30.

3:18 left in the game:

Chris Boswell’s third field goal of the day, this time from 37 yards, extends the Steelers’ lead to two touchdowns and we’re inside of 4 minutes left.

And, yes, “Renegade” was deployed to wrap this one up:

4:28 left in the game:

The Steelers are in Vikings’ territory and seem to have the game in hand.

After left tackle Alejandro Villanueva missed time in the second half because of heat-related issues, now it’s right tackle Marcus Gilbert who is out of the game. Chris Hubbard is in for HIM now.

9:59 left in the game:

I don’t know if I’d put it that way, exactly, but it admittedly was a nice punt by Jordan Berry pinned the Vikings at their own 1. They trail by 11 after the Steelers took that punt rather than try a 46-yard field goal following a running-into-the-kicker penalty on Minnesota.

5:05 left, third quarter:

Chris Boswell’s second FG of the quarter (and the season) — this one from 29 yards out — extended the Steelers’ lead to 20-9.

This is what put the Steelers into scoring range:

6:53 left, third quarter:

Just as the Steelers were driving inside the Vikings’ 15 and threatening to extend their lead, some bad news emerged:

9:57 left, third quarter:

We have a fullback touchdown… after a Dalvin Cook 26-yard TD was overturned by video review and the ball was spotted a yard short of the goal line, C.J. Ham bulled in for the Vikings’ first touchdown of the day. Kai Forbath, though, missed the extra point.

12:19 left, third quarter:

Chris Bowell was given a mulligan after missing a 51-yarder wide left when the Vikings were flagged for illegla formation. He made the best of his second chance for his first field goal of the season.

17-3, Steelers.

Halftime

2-minute warning, first half:

If you were wondering why Anthony Chickillo has been getting reps rushing the passer these past two defensive possessions

8:10 left, 2nd quarter:

There won’t be a shutout today, the Vikings get a 42-yard field goal by Kai Forbath to pull toi within 14-3.

10:30 left, second quarter:

The Steelers new TD celebration (they’ve done it twice so far today)-

13:31 left, second quarter

The Steelers took a 14-0 lead on the first touch of JuJu Smith-Schuster’s career, a 4-yard shovel pass up the middle early in the second quarter.

Start of the second quarter

Steelers lead, 7-0, on Martavis Bryant’s first touchdown.

3:02 left, first quarter

Hello, Martavis. Bryant scores his first regular season TD since Dec. 6, 2015 in a win here against Indianapolis – a 27-yard catch and run in which he showed his pull-away speed across the middle of the field.

1:05 p.m.

We are underway at Heinz Field.

Steelers get the ball first.

Scenes from the Dan Rooney tribute:

12:40 p.m.:

Welcome to the 17th home opener at Heinz Field. It’s a stunningly beautiful day for it, as you might be able to ascertain by seeing myself and Kevin Gorman having a chat on the banks of the Ohio River across from The Point:

Steelers pregame with Chris Adamski and Kevin Gorman.

Posted by TribLive on Sunday, September 17, 2017

As you might see or hear during that broadcast, plenty of fans are arriving happy. Most have traditionally left Heinz Field happy in September, too. The Steelers have won 14 of the previous 16 regular-season openers here. That includes last season’s 24-16 win against the Cincinnati Bengals exactly 364 days ago.

The big pregame news is that Sam Bradford is NOT playing for the Minnesota Vikings.

Of course, this is huge for the Steelers; Bradford was 27 for 32 for 346 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in a 29=29 win against New Orleans this past Monday. Case Keenum will make his 25th career start at quarterback. He’s 9-15 as a starter.

In other injury-related news, the Steelers are, as expected, without defensive end Stephon Tuitt. Also missing the game because of injury are the two newest acquisitions, tight end Vance McDonald and safety J.J. Wilcox.

A tribute to late Steelers owner Dan Rooney is moments away from beginning here at Heinz Field.

Follow along all game long. It figures to be an enjoyable time.
