Some Steelers fans want Pittsburgher Mike McCarthy hired, Mike Tomlin fired
You knew this was coming.
On the heels of the Steelers' loss to 3-10 Oakland, the team's third straight defeat, the fan base is calling for Mike Tomlin to be fired and former Packers coach Mike McCarthy to be hired as the new head coach.
Here's a smattering of what a quick Twitter search of "Steelers, Mike McCarthy" cropped up.
I hear there's an up and coming Coach coming out of Green Bay. You might want to take a look at him. I think he's going to be something special.
If we had McCarthy.....Or half a dozen other coaches, Big Ben would be sporting two more pieces of bling

Tomlin needs to be fired! He wants to be the players friend not their coach. Watching this team deteriorate from a perenial playoff contender to a laughing stock is painful. Fire tomlin now!!! Mike Mc Carthy is available and would be a good fit. Better yet bring back Bill Cowher!

How great would it be for the @Steelers to fire Tomlin and hire McCarthy? Iβm all for it #Steelers

Let's face it, this is nothing but good ol' fashioned Western Pennsylvania provincialism. Every argument made against Tomlin can be used against McCarthy.
β’ Just one Super Bowl win with a Hall of Fame quarterback
β’ His postseason record since 2015 is pretty much identical to Tomlin's
β’ His team's 2018 club was worse than the Steelers
But sure, get the Greenfield guy in here. That'll change everything. At this point, I'd say it's easier to make a case against Tomlin than it is to make a case for McCarthy.
