Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier expresses gratitude to fans on social media

Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier took to his social media accounts to thank fans for their support after he was carted off the field during Monday night's game.

In a tweet posted less than 24 hours after his injury, Shazier expressed gratitude.

Thank you for the prayers. Your support is uplifting to me and my family. #SHALIEVE

Shazier has been at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center since suffering a spinal injury in the first quarter of Monday's 23-20 victory against the Cincinnati Bengals. Shazier had a CT scan and an MRI exam. He did not have surgery .

Doctors have said Shazier could return to Pittsburgh on Wednesday or Thursday after additional evaluation. In a statement released Tuesday, doctors said that Shazier would receive more treatment at a UPMC hospital when he is cleared to leave Cincinnati.
