U.S. Steel Corp. appointed Malisa J. Sommers managing director - transportation and president of Transtar Inc., a subsidiary. Miroslav Kiralvarga will succeed Sommers as general manager - global materials management and procurement operations. Elena Petraskova will assume Kiralvarga's former role of vice president - management services & administration for U. S. Steel Košice.

Alpern Rosenthal promoted Joseph P. Cain , Kieran A. O'Dea and Heath L. Winsheimer to shareholder.
