Carnegie residents, business people and officials attended a nondenominational prayer service on Wednesday night to remember the Sept. 17, 2004, flood that killed one man and damaged hundreds of properties.

The service at the East Main Street Bridge preceded a gathering in Adventist Community Services.

The aftermath of Hurricane Ivan dropped nearly 6 inches of rain on the area, causing Chartiers Creek to overflow.

Dennis Santiago, 35, of Carnegie, died after being swept into flood waters.
