A candidates forum will be at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at O’Hara Elementary.

Residents can learn more about local legislative candidates during a forum at 6:30 p.m. tonight in O’Hara.

The forum will include two sessions, the first with Democrat Betsy Monroe and Republican Lori Mizgorski, each seeking to represent the 30th District.

Monroe, of Fox Chapel, works in the Pittsburgh healthcare industry. Mizgorski is a lifelong resident of Shaler and previously served as chief-of-staff for Rep. Hal English, who decided not to seek re-election.

The 30th District includes Fox Chapel, O’Hara, Hampton, Richland and Shaler.

The second session will see Democratic incumbent Frank Dermody and Republican Joshua Nulph, each seeking to represent the 33rd District, which includes Indiana Township.

Dermody, of Oakmont, has held office since 1990. Nulph, of Harrison, serves as the chairman of the township’s recreation board and is the youngest appointed official in the history of the township.

O’Hara Democratic Chair George Stewart said the event is a prime opportunity to meet and learn about candidates running in Nov. 6 midterm election.

The event is sponsored in part by the Pittsburgh League of Women Voters, Rise Up and the Fox Chapel branch of the AAUW. It will be at O’Hara Elementary School, 115 Cabin Lane.
