Puerto Rico, an island territory of more than 3 million U.S. citizens, is reeling from the devastation Hurricane Maria caused a week ago.

Here are five ways to help:

1. Digital giving

Donate $10 to the American Red Cross by texting “REDCROSS” to 90999.

Apple users also can donate to the Red Cross through the company's iTunes and app stores.

On Google, searching for terms such as “Hurricane Maria” will let you donate directly in the search results. Just scroll down and you'll find an option to give $5, $25 or $50 to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy.

2. Crowdfunding

GoFundMe has a special page for Hurricane Maria pleas for charities, individuals and families. GlobalGiving, a crowdfunding site for charities, is trying to raise $2 million for local relief and recovery efforts.

3. Puerto Rico's first lady launches charity

Beatriz Rosselló, the wife of Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló, has launched an emergency fund with help from private companies. United for Puerto Rico ( Unidos Por Puerto Rico ) lets you donate through PayPal, directly to its bank account or though a mobile app.

4. Puerto Ricans in the U.S.

Several groups of Puerto Ricans living in the United States have launched special fundraising programs. One of them, prxpr.org , promises to give 100 percent of the money it collects through PayPal contributions and its GoFundMe campaign to communities in need. As of Wednesday, the group had raised over $127,000, according to its website.

5. Clemente Museum collecting supplies

A Pittsburgh museum devoted to Pirates' legend Roberto Clemente is collecting supplies and money for victims in Puerto Rico. The Clemente Museum in Lawrenceville has teamed up with UPMC and Restaurant Depot for an open house from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Items that are needed most include bottled water, batteries, diapers, first aid supplies and feminine hygiene products.
