New Kensington 'Green Thing' legend resurfaces online
A long-standing Alle-Kiski legend resurfaced Thursday when a native of the area posted a 1981 Valley News Dispatch article about the "Green Thing" in New Kensington.
Anthony Breznican posted the article saying it was published when he was a kid and noting the "Green Thing" was never found.
The article said the "Green Thing" may live in the sewer and the case was even taken to the police for investigation.
His followers had a field day with it.
This is a real article that ran in my hometown newspaper when I was a kid. March 5, 1981. ("Green Thing" was never apprehended, FYI.) pic.twitter.com/4u5c7a31Da

Legend has it the mystery beast could return every couple of decades.
He will return. Every 40 years for one week during the March thaw, Green Thing returns. This time now 53-year-old Ben Menhart will be ready.

The "Green Thing" may have cousins across Western Pennsylvania.
Maybe some distant relation to this guy. pic.twitter.com/IEBangIeQf

Breznican offered us assistance if we ever wanted to follow-up on the case.
If Valley News Dispatch (@VNDNews) and ever wants to reopen this case, count me in. https://t.co/O7JJJJwEaM
