Greensburg Salem athletic director Lynn Jobe to retire
Greensburg Salem athletic director Lynn Jobe is retiring after a lengthy career with the school district.
She's been with Greensburg Salem 35 years, most of them as a coach and physical education teacher.
She's been athletic director since 2010.
“I loved every second,” she said.
Superintendent Eileen Amato praised Jobe's dedication to Greensburg Salem students and athletes.
“That is going to be such a loss to the district,” Amato said. “Lynn is just a champion for the district.”
Jobe said one of the highlights of her career was coaching the underdog girls volleyball team to a state title in 1998.
“We knocked off people who didn't think we were capable,” she said. “And that was a lot of fun.”
Jobe still talks to many of the players she's coached over the years.
She said she plans to spend her retirement with friends and family, and traveling, particularly to Alaska where her parents live. She'll still attend Greensburg Salem sporting events, where she has been a fixture for decades.
“I will do everything that retirees do, and I will do it well,” she said.
The school board is expected to choose a new athletic director before the start of the 2018-19 school year.
Jobe had a few words of advice for her successor.
“It's a very comprehensive job; you wear many different hats,” she said. “If you keep the kids in mind you won't have any difficulties.”
