Autumn Turk was hired as assistant principal at Burrell School District's Huston Middle School on Aug. 9, 2016. She had filled a similar role at Pine-Richland's Eden Hall Upper Elementary, and prevouisly worked as an academic intervention specialist in Burrell elementary schools.
Autumn Turk will be the new assistant principal at Burrell's Huston Middle School.

A former intensive support teacher at Burrell, she spent the past school year as assistant principal at Pine-Richland's Eden Hall Elementary School.

A Highlands High School graduate, Turk will be paid $84,000. She will begin her duties on Sept. 6.

“I believe in a student-centered approach — what's best for the students,” Turk said. “I look forward to working with the students and the faculty. I believe as both a mom and an administrator, I have a unique gift.”

Turk started her career as an educator as a first-grade teacher at Highlands in 2005. She lives in Lower Burrell.

The middle school houses students in grades 6 through 8.

Also hired by the school board Tuesday night were:

• Sara Huth, as middle school intensive support teacher, at $42,880 per year.

• Krista Marino, as middle school math/special education teacher, at $43,600.

• Meaghan Volek, as high school math teacher, at $48,800.

• Casey Bull, high school health and physical education teacher, at $46,700.

The school board also accepted the resignation of licensed practical nurse Adrienne Harris and appointed Brooke Schultz at a rate of $17 per hour.

“I think our administrators did an extremely thorough job in interviewing candidates,” said school board President Tricia Shank.
