The Medical Rescue Team South is offering community education programs next month and encouraging the public to participate in the programs that teach life-saving skills. Professional Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation classes will be offered at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 10; adult CPR classes will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19; and infant/child CPR classes will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20. Adult and infant CPR classes also will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 and 10. The professional CPR class costs $45, and the adult and child classes will cost $30. Keystone Oaks schools The Keystone Oaks School District is accepting nominations for its Wall of Fame program that honors and recognizes extraordinary accomplishments of past graduates. Eligible candidates will have graduated from either Keystone Oaks High School or Dormont High School at least five years ago. Those chosen for inductions may be either living or deceased and will have exemplified outstanding professional or personal dedication in making a significant contribution to society, the community or to their respective profession. The deadline for 2003 nominations is March 15. Nomination forms are available through the offices of the five schools in the district. Jane Earll, an Erie County Republican and candidate for Pennsylvania lieutenant governor, and Paul Snatchko, a McDonald Republican running for the state House in the 46th District, will appear today at the Avella Heritage Festival. The candidates are expected to be at the festival from 3:45 to 5 p.m. Upper St. Clair Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Painters Run Road in Upper St. Clair will be closed between Bridge Street and Cedar Boulevard. The posted detour will follow Robb Hollow Road and Kelso Road to Bower Hill Road, Route 19 and Gilkeson Road. The road will remain closed until December during the replacement of two small bridges as part of the Painters Run Road reconstruction project. Painters Run Road also will be widened to four lanes between Robb Hollow Road and Cedar Boulevard. ASTCO Construction of Pittsburgh is undertaking the $2.8 million project. West Mifflin This is the last week for the West Mifflin playground program, and Friday will be a half day at Community Park on Bettis Road. The playground will close at noon. Tuesday by noon is the deadline to sign up for Thursday’s field trip to Mineral Beach in Finleyville, Washington County. Washington Strabane Trails Village, an independent living residence under construction for seniors, will sponsor an open house ice cream social from noon to 4 p.m. today. Seniors and their families can tour model apartments during the open house. When construction is completed, the village will offer 123 apartments. Strabane Trails is the latest UPMC Retirement Village. Others are in Penn Hills, Monroeville, Scott Township, Greensburg and McCandless Township.
