A famous painting stolen from a private owner in Argentina has been returned to the Argentine government after eight years. The post-impressionist painting “Corrida de Torros,” painted by Pedro Figari, was taken from the home of Santiago Luis Sanchez Elia in 1997. The painting of a bullfighter was sold at auction in Uruguay before making its way to Christie’s auction house in New York, La Nacion newspaper reported Tuesday.
